KidSafe Collaborative Island Ride will be held on Sunday, June 20. Bike riders will tour the Lake Chamlpaine Islands of Vermont and Tipped Cow Cookies will be there with free cookies for all the peddling fund raiser.

Safe Kids Vermont (SKV) is a non-profit organization made up of individual volunteers from around the state of Vermont. SKV serves as a hub for communication and collaboration for people and organizations in Vermont who are interested in preventing unintentional childhood injury, the leading case of death in children 14 years and under.

SKV is a member of Safe Kids World wide, a global network of similar organizations with a common mission. SKV was founded in 1990 with the Vermont Children’s Hospital as the lead organization. SKV was recognized in 1994 by the National Safe Kids Campaign with and “Award of Excellence” as an outstanding coalition.

Why is injury prevention especially important in Vermont?

Children living in rural areas are at greater risk of dying from unintentional injuries that those living in urban areas. Rural settings have greater distances between medical facilities, equipment and personnel which result in prolonged response and transport time before treatment can be given.
